Much to the delight of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship fans, Eurosport will again be broadcasting the popular FIA F3 Magazine in 2017. The 24-minute programme will be broadcast by Eurosport on Tuesdays following a FIA Formula 3 European Championship round and will solely deal with the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. In addition to highlights of the three races, the magazine also features background stories and provides extensive insight into the competitive young-gun series.
Eurosport, the popular pan-European sports channel, has already produced the programme since 2014. The format is particularly attractive due to its variety. It goes without saying that the highlights of the three races feature in the programme, but the makers of the show are note limiting themselves to the on-track action. Interviews with the protagonists and background features provide an extensive glance behind the curtains of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The diverse topics range from technology features to portraits of the up-and-coming young drivers.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the magazine has proven to be very popular with the TV audience right from the start. In 2016 the 10 editions of the magazine broadcast in 20 languages in a total of 54 countries attracted an audience of about two million viewers. Altogether, Eurosport achieved a reach of more than 136 million households.
In 2017, the broadcasting dates will remain similar to the previous years: following the first showing on Tuesday evening on Eurosport, the magazine will be broadcast by Eurosport 2 on Wednesday morning. Also, Eurosport Asia Pacific will show several reruns of the programme. And those who missed the TV broadcasts can watch the magazine at the official FIA Formula 3 European Championship YouTube channel where it can be accessed all around the clock.
“We are delighted to continue our cooperation with Eurosport regarding the production of the Eurosport Formula 3 Magazine this year,” said Walter Mertes, CEO of the ‘Formel 3- Vermarktungs GmbH’ that organises and promotes the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. “With the free-to-air (FTA) TV coverage in the pan-European and Asian regions as well as the FTA coverage by n-tv, the teams and drivers of the series are provided an international platform with wide reach. For our multi-national paddock, the extensive TV coverage proves extremely helpful when it comes to sponsor acquisition. Almost no other young-gun series provides a similar FTA-TV presence as the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.”
