Daniel Ticktum (Motopark) and Enaam Ahmed (Hitech Grand Prix), two of the young guns about to contest the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship season, were capped for this year’s BRDC SuperStars squad. In addition, reigning FIA Formula 3 European Champion Lando Norris also is one of the current BRDC SuperStars.
The SuperStar programme was created in 2008 and is supposed to help British motor-sport talents on their way up the motor-racing ladder. Within the scope of this programme, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) focuses on all the aspects important for a motor-racing career: it offers the drivers support from physical and mental training through career management, tips for the acquisition of sponsors, media training and seminars to the most different motor-racing topics.
And now, in the 2018 season, Daniel Ticktum and Enaam Ahmed are among the drivers who may benefit from this promotion programme. Red Bull Junior Ticktum is delighted: “It’s brilliant. To be so heavily involved with the BRDC now as a full member and a SuperStar is amazing. It is the best club in motor sport so I am honoured and proud to be on the programme. I’ve got to lap it up and learn as much as I can, there’s good opportunities for me this year and I will make the most of it.”
Ahmed also regards this cooperation as a massive advantage for his career. “I have been dreaming about being a BRDC SuperStar for many years. I never thought I would be a part of it, especially this year as I didn’t know if I had done enough to be a part of the programme. I feel really proud of being selected and hope to represent the BRDC well. There’s lots of very good drivers in the programme so I am really happy to be among those names.”
